Twenty-four hours later, the Red Sox faced a familiar foe: the Missoula Mavericks. It didn’t matter. Bitterroot cruised 8-1 on July 27, extending the streak to 24 games. The pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts, and the defense turned two double plays to snuff out any Maverick momentum. “We’re playing our best baseball at the right time,” assistant coach Dave Larson noted.
